1. To express a future possibility or make aprediction.

للتعبير عن إحتمالية مستقبلية أو تنبؤ

Example:

• If we use the method professor jone suggested,we will probably get better tesults.

• If my neighbor plays a loud music,i will complain to the manger.

the verb form:

Condition	result
Present tense	will,may,might
Present progressive	can,could
Present perfect	+base form

2.To express a general fact or a habitual action.

تستخدم للتعبير عن عن حقيقة عامة أو عادة

Example:

• If sugar is mixed with water,it disssolves.(general fact)
• If the elderly exercise regularly,they have a better chance of feeling healthy.(habitual action)

The verb form:

Condition	result

Example:

If caterpillar matures,it becomes a chrysails.(fact)

3.To make an inference.

عند التعبير عن إستنتاج

Example:

• If this compound contain carbon,it is organic material.
• If that book is latest edition,i bought the wrong one.

The verb form:

Present tense	must or should+base form
Past tense	must have+past participle

4.To give a command or instructions.

لإعطاء أمر أو تعليمات

Example:

• If your laboratory experments fails,try it again tomorrow.

The verb form:

Present progressive	imprative
Present perfect	imprative

Note:

A conditional sentence with the model will express the strongest possibility ,prediction.the other modals indicate a lesser degree of possibility.

يعبر will عن قوة الإحتمال أو التنبؤ

في حين أن الأفعال المساعدة الأخرى مثل may ,can...... تعبر عن ضعف الإحتمالية 

Base form is the verb without s,ing or ed 

الفعل دون إضافة في نهايته أي أصل الفعل
