الاسم الجمع واالمفرد
There are two numbers in noun-number:singular and plural.ينقسم الاسم من حيث العدد إلى اسم مفرد واسم جمع
Singular noun:names one person ,place ,thing or idea.يشير الاسم المفرد إلى اسم شخص, مكان ,شىء أو فكرة
Singular noun for one person:
Example:boy, girl, son ,daughter,etc.
singular noun for one idea:
Example:truth ,good ,beautiful ,etc
singular noun for one thing.
Example:shelf, picture ,box,etc
Singular noun for one place.
Example: state, river ,city ,etc.
Plural noun:names refer more than one person,place,thing or idea.يشير الاسم الجمع إلى الاسم في حالة الجمع
سواء اسم شخص ,مكان ,شيء فكرة.

Notice:there are two types for plural noun (regular -irregular ) يوجد نوعان من الاسم الجمع اسم جمع قياسي واسم جمع غير قياسي.
- To make regular noun plural ,add {S} to the end.لتحويل الاسم المفرد إلى اسم في حالة الجمع القياسي يجب إضافة S
Example:
dog-dogs
book-books
If the singular noun ending in S or Z you need to double the S or Z and add es. إذا كان الاسم المفرد منتهي بSأوZ يجب مضاعفته مع إضافة es
Example:
gas-gasses
fez-fezzes
- If the noun ends with f or fe the f is often changed to ve befor adding es.
Examples:
Wife-wives
Leaf-leaves
Excpetions :
Roof-roofs
chef-chefs
- If the noun ends with y change y to I and add es .
Example:
candy-candies
party-parties
If the noun ending in s-x-sh-ch-ss -o add es .
Example:
Dress-dresses
box -boxes
Potato-potatoes
Notice:some times we can not add es for the noun ends with o
Example:
photo- photos
ALSO note that the word volcano you can add s or es at the end of the noun

- The irregular plural nouns have not rules so you need to memorize them.ليس هناك قاعدة محددة للجمع غير القياسي والطريقة الوحيدة لمعرفته هي الحفظ

Notice:countable nouns have both singular and plural forms uncountable nouns do not have a plural form.الأسماء التي تعد لها صيغة مفرد وصيغة جمع أما الأسماء التي لا تعد ليس لها صيغة جمع
